My expectations ran high for David O. Russell’s first film in 4 years. But Wes Anderson he isn’t (a comparison i had incorrectly drawn before the film) and the quirkiness of it all left me spinning, not really aware of what i had just seen. Some may argue that a clear message is not always necessary, but confusing your audience without giving them a chance to hang on to even the slightest bit of meaning, while at the same time implying that a message does lie below the surface, could be described as frustrating cinema.
